Jeff & Danielle's Wedding Rehearsal

Started this a long time ago, but there is so much that could be said ...

My brothers and I had a cousin on each side to round us out to four.  On my Dad's side, it was Holly.  On my Mom's side, it was Jeff.  They each fell perfectly between my two brothers so Holly was the perfect sister to help me against the boys and Jeff was like my third brother, spending endless summer days with us building tree houses and playing at Grandma's house.  There have been beach weeks and college graduations and most recently, he was the 'brother' on the crew that helped Mike move us to our new house when I was 38 1/2 weeks pregnant with Ben.  I have been so anxious for him to meet the right girl... mostly because he is such a good catch!

Well, at the end of May, he tied the knot at my parents house with the perfect girl (that he met soon after my post swooning about him- ha!).  We were especially excited because its where we got married.  And our kids are at the age of thinking about weddings from stories and old enough to remember it.  And they love "Uncle" Jeff.
I had the kids skip school on Friday so we went down Thursday eve.  It was a fun DIY gig that my parents pulled off with the help of the groom and his parents (my mom's brother), their children & spouses.  (Now to give credit where credit is due- my parents are really unbelievable.  They can get some things done and are really amazing, hard working, generous, perfectionists, detail oriented, and hard working.  Did I mention hard working?  Their house & yard looked like the country club.  And they didn't call in the landscaping crew or the house staff.)

Rehearsal Pics:

Mike does a final tour of the yard with me after our day of preparations.

And one more cheesy shot for us- Mike's idea.
We had a pic taken here for our wedding. :)

Concerts & Field Day

The big kids have both had spring concerts at school.  They have been SUPER cute!
Peter's was about "Bugs"- cute songs with hand fun motions.  They've both been really excited and enjoyed singing the songs around the house.
Here is Peter, in the center of the top row.
Lily's was cute kindergarten type songs-
'just because I'm shorter than a grown up'
'big dreams'
'everyone has something they can do'
It has been really sweet for me to feel like I know all of the kids in Lily's class this year.
I am looking forward to that in Peter's next year!
Lily is on the front row, third from the left.
And I remembered to take my real camera & zoom to Lily's- so here is the cute little love!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Field Day was last week.  I hadn't made it to Peter's last year because I was in the hospital after Ben's birth.  I wasn't sure what to expect but it was lots of fun and HOT! Hot! HOT!
Dancing for the opening song- Peter has a really cool teacher- love him.
Relay Races in a Sombrero Hat while skipping :)
Carry the Sponge under your Chin :)
 1st Grade's Turn- Go Peter!
Again, love his teacher- so loving towards his kids.
Tug of War
Goo & Pop were so generous & spent a lot of the day with us!
 Peter's Class
Later on the Blacktop- it was HOT! HOT! HOT!
Lily's class in a pass the pig relay- it was looong & hot, have I mentioned it was hot?
But I really loved being there and seeing them.
ReHydration Station
And later in the afternoon, the final was a Omnikin Ball Game.
Whew, we went home hot and tired after a pit stop for milkshakes.  It was a really fun day.
This guy was a good sport.

Memorial Day Weekend 2015

My parents were preparing for a wedding at their house so couldn't be at the river but convinced us to go anyway.  I was hesitant without the service staff there (being honest- our parents serve us well & I appreciate, enjoy every minute of it) but it turned out to be such a nice weekend.
It was soo sooo nice to have a long weekend with just the 5 of us in a different location.
I know for all of us normal life certainly doesn't seem to allow much quality time together- with the older two away at school for nearly 8 hours a day and Mike away at work for 11 a day.

We stopped on the way down at a playground they love.
(these pics can serve as a 'before' for Ben's hair trimming. There are almost always haircuts at the river.)
We enjoyed leisurely days on the dock & a ride on Paw's boat.  It was also a good playpen for Ben.  There has been a little grumpiness- with teething, and reaching the stage of desiring something but not having the speech to match it.
his cuteness makes up for it!

Lily's thoughts on the weekend-
We are also very thankful for the men & women who serve & have served our country.
