2.666 years old

The boy has been happily hard at work...
Blowing Bubbles!
(On Saturday, we went to a fun little birthday party!)
...getting bubble blowing pointers from a more experienced friend
(don't you just love his hand on his hip, paying close attention!)
He's been Cheerful!
sharing some hugs with the birthday boy
His disposition is definately back to happy!  Hooray!
He's been buckling the "bounty" or "belt seat" in Lily's carseat (so helpful) and able to play happily (independently!) again, lots of pretend (all sorts of vehicles, conversations, going to the store and Goo's house), without the grumps.
He's drinking all kinds of thick liquids (yogurt, milk shakes) from a straw.
We've been trying to do lower lip exercises throughout our day.  He's been a GREAT sport about it!  And he's actually initiated it several times.  We all take turns in the "hold the popsicle stick with your lips" contest at meal time--- tonight's record was 11 seconds by Daddy.  He races his cotton ball across the room with a straw.  And Lily's been joining in on some chewy tube chewing.
Today he was a friendly boy, saying hi to everyone at the grocery store, smiling, driving his matchbox "whoo whoo" (ambulance) on the cart handle and saying "beep, beep Mommy's hand"...  I like this cheerful face!
His sister likes it too (for now at least!) ;)

10 Months

My girl turns 10 months old this week.  Its making me a little sad.  I want to hang on to her baby year a little longer!  She's "grown up" a lot lately.
Her 9 mo (almost 10 mo) stats:
18 lb 3 oz
27 1/2 inches
She's still one of the 2 cutest sights of my day and for sure, the softest, chubbiest, easiest to carry one.  I love getting her out of bed and feeling that sweet little body in my arms.  After I feed her about 6 each morning, she puts her head on my shoulder (like she can barely stand to hold it up) as I carry her to change her diaper.  She squints as I turn on the lamp.  Then gladly goes back to bed.  Her little dog goes over her face and her thumb in her mouth.  Its the sweetest sight!  I am trying to keep up the 5 feedings per day and she's eating 2 solid meals a day.  Her little body is trying to make the adjustment from liquid to solids but it's often a little "backed up".  ;)  We're working on it.
She's just learned that she has a will.  :)  If you take something away from her, she gets  upset.  If you offer her something she doesn't want, she flaps her arms and fusses.  When she doesn't get what she wants in her car seat, she flaps her arms and kicks her legs, like a frog.  (Its really sorta cute, though I'm sure she's not trying for cute.)  And when she's upset, she fusses "Da!Da!Da!"  It tugs at Mike's heart when he's here.
She's learned to play the "Gravity Game" and say "Uh, Oh" after she drops something.  Now that I know a little about speech, this makes me happy that she is saying two different sounds together and making a good, closed mouth "oh" sound.
She's learning to play peek a boo, touch things (my mouth) with her pointer finger.  She thinks its really funny, and it is!
She'd prefer that we be attached at the hip.  (And I admit, I think its sweet.) She's a big fan of being with me.  I think it would have bothered me much more if she was my first but its so much easier to see the big picture this time, not feel too bothered by it and know that this time is so (too) short.  She doesn't often want to be set on the floor after being fed, just waking up, etc.  If I can find something that she is interested in, I can often succeed at distracting her, and then slip away when she doesn't notice.  And she's definately crossed into the zone of "that's a TOY so I don't want it", she'd rather have a non-toy (but baby-safe) item.  How do they know this?!?  With Peter, I thought maybe it was a "boy" thing that he wanted the phone, camera, etc but its true for her too.
She's still a great sleeper.  I wish that I could nap her more during the day.  I think she is officially a "one nap a day" girl.  B/c she often wakes up around 9am, I keep her up til Peter goes down at noon.  She's finally stretched that nap out to last longer some lately but occasionally, its only 1 1/2 hours and that just doesn't seem like enough for a 10 mo old Perz babe.  But she is no longer into the later afternoon nap.  So I try to put her down by 7.
I'm sure I'd do this differently if she was my first child (as I did with PT) but its just too hard to stagger their naps.  She did enjoy her extra nap time last week when her brother was away.
She loves, loves, loves to take a bath or be in water.  She esp loves to take a bath with her brother.  She gets excited and kicks and splashes, reaches for Peter.  Tonight I bathed her in the sink and she nearly splashed all the water out and onto me.  Guess the sink bath won't work much longer.  :(
Her brother evidentally misses her when he is away.  My mom told me that he wanted to see "Lily Bug" when he was away at the river. Oh, my heart!  She's our sweet little doll.  And we could not love her more!!  (Don't grow so fast, my girl!!)

(I do have a better understanding, Mom :), of there not being favorites but just loving the different stages, and being able to appreciate each stage more when its not the first child, so you aren't "navigating" as much.)

just me and lil

Grandma insisted on taking the boy with her to the river.
So the girl and I have had some sweet time together!

Look who can stand!!
I can hardly bear the sweetness of that face!

Grandma did leave behind evidence of her presence!  On a whim, we tried out a new color for the family room.  I liked it when it was just around this window.

But it feels a little too crazy when I see it here on the back wall.
And now I want the track lighting replaced.  That certainly won't happen.
The kaki couch makes things tricky too.

Anyway, its a fun process.  I'll get started on the white trim and process the wall color a little longer.

The Reception

So all of us who really know Will have said, seriously, he has NEVER smiled like he does for Emily.  Seriously, I'm not making this stuff up.  Look at his smile!  It was even true for wedding day pics.  We couldn't get him to smile well in any of the pics before the ceremony, before he'd seen Emily.
These pics make me happy to see how happy they are!
And I just loved, loved being with all of our family for the weekend.
The ever lovely Aunt Bettie and Uncle Ray...
Jeff and goofy Matt
Halie and Logan
Loved, loved spending the eve out with Mike.  My sweet parents-in-love came and stayed back at the hotel with Peter and Lily.  We stayed out til 11- can't remember the last time we've stayed out that late!
Loved laughing & having fun with Holly, Jessica & Tayloe!
I so enjoyed all the time with my family- we all had bruch together on Sunday morning and I just loved sitting around and talking with everyone!

Look at Will's admiration for his bride.
Thanks, Will and Emily, for such a great weekend!!

The Location & Special Touches

Everything was so beautiful and coordinating and well-thought-out.  The reception area looked amazing.
I found Will there, deciding which Scripture Daddy should read.... using the KJV Gideon Bible from the hotel.  I didn't really give him a hard time about that.  No, I totally did!
Shawn (the pastor) saved the day with his NIV Bible.
And they settled on 1 Cor 13... always good to hear!
The morning light was so crisp and perfect!
Here's the front of the bed and breakfast were they had the ceremony!

And the guest book table...
And everyone threw these rose petals as they were leaving... You'll get to see that in action on the next post...
