Halloween 2011

I am so slow at getting into things.  I'm never crazy about Halloween.  Its so marketed with scary, dark stuff that it doesn't appeal to me much.  But then when the actual day rolls around its really just FUN!  I LOVE the community that it causes and wish there were more occasions for that.  We had such a fun evening!

The kids and I spent most of the day in the front yard today- that was fun, nice to be outside!  We raked pine straw (to stay on top of it and preserve the little bit of grass we have that Paw planted for us last spring) and the kids helped some.  They also just rode their cars and played ball.  Today was also discipline/listening crack down day.  I had to run a tight ship.  The lack of listening and obeying has gotten **out of control** for the last few weeks.  Crack down.  After I got them to my page, we had a good rest of the day (mostly).  Now I have to keep on top of them!
We carved I carved our pumpkin and they watched (sitting on their "P" and "L" that I wrote on the bricks).
When Mommy carves, we get triangles and a smile. ;)  I couldn't help but think of our little one who is missing when I saw the little pumpkin sitting next to Lily.  Forever in my heart.  Thanks for the little pumpkins, Uncle Henry!  We've loved them all fall!
Then we headed down to our friends' house, the W's.
Two adorable little ones!  Lily is wearing Tigger's big sister's old costume!  :)
Mike came home from work and came down to meet us.
Can you guess who Peter was?!
Mike had to join in the costume fun!  ;)
Our neighborhood had its first ever Halloween gathering for a little parade and pizza.  (Peter's going the wrong way...) he was LARRY THE CUCUMBER from Veggie Tales (and it took him a while to realize he was alone at the front of the parade, so he's coming for me).
Our friends, the C's, saved the day yesterday when we saw them at church and they told us Peter could wear the Larry costume they had.  Perfect!  Remember I don't get into it til the last minute.
The kids all got introduced in their costumes.  Here is part of our group waiting in line.
I told Peter to tell the lady who was introducing him "My name is Peter and I'm Larry the Cucumber."  Do you like the hands on his hips?  He's really into that, it makes him tougher and stronger.  ;)
Peter may have had some medical struggles but we decided that he gets an A+ in social skills.  He told her his name all by himself then paraded in front of everyone with one hand on his hip and one hand waving, then went to stand next to L, who was a rock star.  He was totally working the social friend scene at the gathering.  He doesn't have a shy bone in his body.  He is so friendly, both to other children and adults.  God, we pray Peter would show others that YOU love them thru his love and friendliness!
next up, Tigger and a Lady Bug named Lily Bug :)
Some pictures of my main squeeze (one of them!)
His ears squished down and out certainly raise the cute factor a few levels!
Then we went trick or treating with our best neighborhood friends!
Once again, it was so great to see Peter be part of the "big" kids and just praise God for how great he is doing!  Lily was a precious as could be too... be she's like the 'older son', always with me, always my precious, always thriving... it was fun to see Peter have a blast this eve!
