a wasted 1/2 week?

Its been a bummer kinda week.  My stomach has been off.  I love May.  Its the start of the best time of the year.  But I was just able to 'get through' Monday and Tuesday and didn't eat a thing til I had some rice at dinner on Tues.  (And I like to eat so that's no easy feat for me!)  I was so bummed to feel like I was "wasting" two days.  Today was my recovery day.  I felt better but I was overwhelmed with all I hadn't done for two days.  And the start of today... my little man is very fascinated (I'm assuming) with the liberties that come with a "hose", so he thought it would be interesting to empty his on the floor this morning at 6am (after Mike had already left for work).  He aimed it at Lily's skirt that was on the floor in the upstairs hall.  That didn't start our day well or help my attitude that was already lacking after the past two days.  I lounged around this afternoon but then finally got over myself this eve.  The kids did play doh while I tried to quick, do a few things to win back ground in our house.  And that did, by the grace of God, make up for lost time in my mind.
Peter was quite pleased with his diamond making skills!  He made about 15 at last count.
Of course, he wanted to make funny faces when he saw I had the camera.
And two sweet pics from our drive home from the river.  Working on the mini coloring sheets that Maw gave them.  Its still not old to see Peter enjoy fine motor activities.
Here's to making the most of the rest of the week!
Kathy is getting the kids tomorrow afternoon so I can get a haircut.  That's sure to help!... its nice to be able to be more fully with them after a little break.  :)

WHOA, Ray!

Paw can hardly wait for me to post this one!
There was a BIG bite at the river yesterday!
What is it?!  It took about 20 minutes and both men to get it in.
Whoa, it broke the net.
First Look... its a CowNose Ray.  It was HUGE!
Well, Hi, Mr. Ray.
This is when I started saying, "We need Holly!  We need Alvin!"  It was just so exciting.
No one had a cell phone so Peter pulled out his pretend phone and started telling Holly all about it.
Daddy was pretty excited!
At this point, the net was completely broken but he kept saying that he'd love to beak a net every time he fishes for something this exciting.  Everyone on shore watches.
Of course, he examines it from head to toe.
Kinda gross... checking out its mouth.
It eats oysters.
So "they" don't want you to throw it back.
The P fam went for a ride while Paw tended to the ray.

Then it was time to taste a ray.  You bet they ate it!!.

Groomed!

It was hair cut weekend at the river.
Paw, Mike, Peter, Emily.
Peter got the clippers for the first.time.ever.
I'm only slightly attached to my boy's long hair.  As is he.
But its nearly summertime.
Lily worked on Mike's hair.
Glenda was there!  Love her smile.
I bet your beautician doesn't dress so beautifully.
Emily was my final victim. ;)

By the Water

Mike had a Saturday morning meeting somewhat nearby to the river house.
It doesn't take much of an excuse to get us there.
The kids and I played by the water all morning long!
Swimming over to meet Paw on the canoe.
Lily arrives by water taxi.

He pretended that his truck was stuck, on land and in water.
Then they put the chairs side by side to drive somewhere.
We tried on hats.
Then they pretended to dig for pirate treasures.
And just in time, Maw returned from the store with treats... a new "pirate boat"!
Peter said over and over from the water "Maw, I just loooove my new pirate boat!"
Lily got a watering can :)
They are so, so entertaining.  Its was so good to start in on summer fun!

Gettin' Dirty

We went to a local high school baseball game last week.  The gravel and dirt would have been enough entertainment.  But the friends who invited us brought along a few trucks to drive in the gravel.  And of course, there were rocks.  So much fun.
I'm so sure Peter is checking out the wheels,
making them go round and round with his finger.
Wheels never cease to be completely fascinating.
They dumped dirt on each others heads.  Check out the dirt in Lily's hair.
 Sweet, sweet, dirty hands.
