For it is God who works in you (me), both to will and to work for his
good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13 (ESV)

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Clothed

I saw this cute outfit at Target this morning and couldn't resist.  I hardly ever buy her clothes so I endulged myself.
Doesn't she look so grown up, I think its the hair over her ear.  She was as excited to smile for the camera as I was to take her picture... little joy!
At some point, we lost one of her pink dogs so I went to buy her another and they only had brown.  She loves the brown just as much.  The whole point of two is to swap them out to wash one.  Now they are "pink dog" and "brown dog" and she is distraught if one is missing...
Silly!
I took Peter to the pediatrician this morning for some mouth issues... I feel like his open mouth posture, low tone, tongue protrusion has gotten a little worse over the last few weeks plus some positional wierd breathing things.  So she's gonna have him go to an ENT, which I'm happy about.  She's also gonna ask our insurance to cover speech therapy for him.  It was nice to get out early for that on our first Wed without preschool.  So afterwards, we headed to Target and I scored Lily this cute outfit and some swim trunks for Peter that I'd been eyeing.  Its finally HOT so we are gonna try to hit the pool.
My head, my heart have been wierd, unsettled lately.  I think its setting in, all that's happened recently.  Over the weekend, we were with our small group at the river and I was talking with a friend and something she said prompted me to say "Yeah, I NEVER imagined my son (child) would have epilepsy*."  And I think that sentence, along with the baby that I was carrying dying is just setting in.  And always framed around that is the much, much too soon passing of Charlie and Alvin.  We want them to still be with us, here.  Its maybe the first time my cushy life (that's still cushy!) has been rocked.  And I can still feel the vibrations.  (And I'm praying for YOU, Holly, all.the.time.)
2 Cor 4:17-18
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

*ps- I am thrilled and so very thankful that my little man is doing so well on his Keppra... and its not just the epilepsy, its the possible implications, etc... such a bittersweet mixture, i am not naive that we are blessed that he is doing well but it still changes things, and that is ok, will be ok, just an adjustment.

22 months

This girl is such a source of joy.
She is officially the age that Peter was when she was born, which my heart just doesn't know what to do with.
Her speech continues to explode...
She says her C's like T's, which I think is adorable... "I'm tumming", instead of "I'm coming".
My personal faves are "Hold Ju, Mommy" when she wants to be held & "I lub eww" for I love you.
Its the start of really figuring her out, learning her "bents", what works to discipline her and mold her young heart.
Her behavior is easier than Peter's was/is but she has a hard time saying "I'm sorry" when she has done something wrong.  (Peter is quick to say I'm sorry.)  So far, I've chalked it up to girls maybe more naturally finding their identity in "doing the right thing", so its harder for us to hear that we haven't, where boys could really care less, they're just more footloose and fancy-free in feeling the need to follow rules and find some worth in that... ???  So we are praying for her (and me! being a "girl" too) that we'd find our identity in Christ and know that ultimately we need to do that b/c we're NOT OK, we don't do things right, in our hearts and actions.  We need a Savior.
Thank you, Lord, for this child.

the grass is greener....

at Maw and Paw's house!  This was our setting for Mother's Day lunch.  Mike had the idea at 11am to drive down... so we did!  We relaxed over a bucket of Hardees fried chicken and biscuits!
After lunch, we decided to try and recreate these pics and maybe make it a yearly spring tradition.
Paw hadn't yet cut a path thru the field so he and Peter got right to that.

Lily wasn't sure she like the tractor but she warmed up to it.

Peter got some time with his best dog friend.

Lily was fascinated with Roxy.

back and forth again...
hugs for Maw...

We love our Moms

We feel oh so blessed to have both of our Moms (grandmas) so close by and in our daily lives.
We loved getting to see BOTH of them on Mother's Day.
Our hearts are full b/c of the ways they love on us all!

Waking Up is hard to do...

I've been waking Peter up from naptime on Thursdays to go see Cha for speech (we are grateful!).  I've learned to start early b/c it takes a while...
The boy still loves to feel his hair!  :)
Oop, here comes the kitty!
She does the trick every time (well, and finding out that Goo is coming!)
